FAQ - SKIP HIRE

Q)  What size skip do I need?

A) CMEC 4 Skips are available to hire in 3 sizes: Midi Skip, Builders Skip and large 12yd for large volume (NOT SOILS). If you are unsure about the size of the skip you may need, we are happy to help.  Just give us a call and let us know what you need a skip for, and we will advise you of the best skip for your purposes.

Q)  What if you require lots of skips for a big job?

A) CMEC 4 Skips have the operating capacity and flexibility to handle loads of any amount or size at any time for any job; ask about our priority booking service. Please contact us for further information, phone 0115 942 0600 or email info@cmec4.co.uk

Q) Where can my skip be put?

A)  Your skip can be dropped on your driveway, garden or even on the road outside your house (A permit is required for a skip on a public highway, which we can organise for you).  Skips for commercial purposes can be dropped at your business location, office or factory.  For contractors and builders, we also offer a waste disposal service for customer locations.

Q) I want the skip to go on my drive. How much space do I need?

A) A skip needs to allow for a 9ft entrance and is up to 11.2 feet long.  Most drives will be suitable, but you should also consider the quality of the drive surface, as the lorries that deliver and collect the skips are very heavy!  If you don't have a drive or can't get a skip on your drive, then you may need to consider the road.  A permit is required for a skip on a public highway, which we can organise for you.

Q) I don't have a drive and can't put the skip on my garden.  Do I need permission from the Council to put it on the road, grass verge or pavement?

A) Yes.  You will need a permit from the Council but don't worry, we can organise this for you.

Q) What if I cannot get a skip permit?

A) If you have a problem getting a skip permit, we can offer a wait-and-load service, where the driver will wait while you load the skip. Please contact us for further information, phone 0115 942 0600 or email info@cmec4.co.uk

Q) What can't go in the skip?

A) Yes, following current legislation, batteries, electrical appliances, fridges, fridge freezers and air conditioning units, fluorescent light tubes, paints (including residues inside paint cans), asbestos, fire extinguishers, gas bottles, solvents, aerosols, liquids, oil, fuel, other automotive fluids, plasterboard, tyres, tv monitors, clinical or medical waste and toxic materials cannot be put in a skip.  If any of these items are found in one of our skips, the skip will be returned to the address in question, and fines may be incurred. If you have any of the above items, please ask one of our advisers for advice.

You can also download a full list of the waste streams that we can and can't accept here.

Q)  Are there any skip-loading requirements?

A)  The only requirement is that you don't overload the skip. Keep it level; no greedy boards. You will be charged an overloading fee, or it will be refused collection and aborted costs

Q)  What area do you cover?

A) We will deliver and collect skips in Nottingham and surrounding areas. Alternatively, if you are unsure if we can deliver a skip to you, phone 0115 942 0600 or email info@cmec4.co.uk

Q)  What if I have filled my skip but have some more waste but not enough to require an extra full skip?

A) Give us a call, and we can give you some advice on options; phone 0115 942 0600 or email info@cmec4.co.uk

Q) How long can I keep my skip for?

A) We normally collect after 10 days. However, building projects, we know, can take longer, so should you want to skip for a more extended period, arrange this at the time of booking

Q)  How do I book a skip?

A) Over the phone 0115 942 0600 or email info@cmec4.co.uk

Q) Can you collect my skip on a specific date?

A) Yes. We arrange collections around our deliveries to make our business eco-friendly (and competitive).  However, please let us know if your skip must go by or on a certain time or day.

Q)  How much notice do I need to give?

A)  24 hours are ideal for deliveries and exchanges of skips. However, we pride ourselves on excellent service, so if you call us in the morning, we can usually get to you on the same day in a local area.  During busy times, such as bank holidays, ordering your skip in advance may be advisable.

Q) What happens to my waste after it is taken away in a skip?

A) All your waste is returned to our recycling facility, which separates and treats it. It is then disposed of in the most environmentally friendly way possible. Our state-of-the-art recycling centre means we can recycle 85% of the waste we collect.
